Colorado offers excellent opportunities for those interested in the pursuit of higher education. The Denver area alone provides a variety of college and university opportunities as well as other post-secondary institutions. These are 17 four-year colleges in the metro area. The Auraria Higher Education Center, on the edge of downtown Denver, is a combination of three institutions – the University of Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State College and Community College of Denver, all sharing facilities and students. Colorado residents receive tuition reductions at state supported schools. Residency requirements are met by living in the state, paying state income tax and having a Colorado driver’s license for at least twelve months.
